Social Bookmarking: Is bizSugar as Sweet as it Sounds?

There is a new social bookmarking website that claims to makes it a little bit easier to find (and share) articles relevant to your business. bizSugar targets small and mid-sized business owners, entrepreneurs, and mangers who are interested in finding, sharing, and discussing business trends and topics. It is a social bookmarking site, similar to Digg.com, but specifically for business related articles.

Just like Digg.com, users on bizSugar determine which articles will sit at the top of the list by placing a vote, or in their words you “give ‘˜em a little sugar.” If you don’t like an article, you can give it a “sour” vote instead.

When you visit bizSugar, you see the article title and a brief description. Clicking the ‘˜More’ link will let you see which users voted for it, related links and comments. Clicking on the title will bring the reader to the website that the article originates from…this is when it can get a little bit sweeter.

bizSugar is a great way to generate free traffic to your website by submitting a press release, review, or related story about your product/service/blog post, or anything on your website. However, you need to be careful - make sure that the piece is relevant to the bizSugar audience, or you run the risk of being classified as spam or “sour.”

They also have tools that allow you to put a bizSugar ‘˜Vote’ button on your website/blog so your readers can see how many votes your article or blog post has gotten, or entice other members to vote to help move your article up the list. The more “sugar” votes, the more visitors.

bizSugar is free, so give it a try and see how sweet people think you are.
