DUI.com
As much as any other project we’ve been involved with, we have a sentimental connection with DUI.com. Ed Reither was the first person to register the premium 3-letter domain name - he founded DUI.com in 1994. After 10 years of updating the website as a hobby in his free time, it slowly and organically grew into a legitimate retail and advertising business.
Jeremy Reither (of R3R) came on as the website’s general manager in 2005, and made it his primary focus to increase the key metric of earnings per visitor - specifically by increasing the number of subscribers to the legal directory, value of those directory subscriptions to the lawyer advertisers, revenue from affiliate marketing, and sales from e-commerce.
After just 18 months the website’s revenue had more than doubled and the number of lawyer subscribers had more than tripled. Advertiser attrition was reduced to a single digit percentage. Name recognition among the key audience of DUI lawyers had grown noticeably. As a result of the site’s rapid growth, unsolicited offers to purchase DUI.com began to come in, and in 2006 the website was sold to eLawSoftware.
Both Ed and Jeremy remain in close contact with the new owners of the site, and stay abreast of updates out of pure interest, but are no longer directly involved in operations. DUI.com was, and continues to be, a classic internet success story, and we are proud to be an integral part of its foundation and history.
